Google Blog

Want to see a blog that has blogging down tight? Check out the Google blog. There isn't just one writer for this blog but many and they write about the latest in 'new technology, hot issues, and the wide world of search' from the Googleplex.

Now be prepared, Google blogs are usually rife with blue hyperlinks but that's okay right? Since Google is all about search they want to make their blog a search maven's haven. They have an archives menu so you don't have to miss a bit of the last year's blog entries and if you want to start your own blog they have a connection link to Blogger.com.

One of the latest entries on Google's blog was on Google Maps. One guy created a unique marriage of Google Maps with Craig's List real estate ads, in what I call 'wherever you go there you are.'

Another entry showed how you can track a package when you don't even know whom the shipper is through Google Search By Number. One of their January web blog comments is geared to bloggers everywhere. It addresses the need to prevent comment spam where basically someone goes into your blog and leaves a linked blog comment such as "visit my discount tire website." Google has been testing a new tag that blocks it. It doesn't generate a negative vote for the site where the comment was posted; it's just a way to make sure that spammers get no benefit from abusing public areas like blog comments, trackbacks, and referrer lists. The following blog software makers have already adopted this attribute:

Brad Fitzpatrick - LiveJournal
Dave Winer - Scripting News
Anil Dash - Six Apart
Steve Jenson - Blogger
Matt Mullenweg - WordPress
Stewart Butterfield - Flickr
Anthony Batt - Buzznet
David Czarnecki - blojsom
Rael Dornfest - Blosxom
Mike Torres - MSN Spaces
