Christian Writers

Christian writers have broken out of a narrow, stale market to the top of the best sellers lists. If you want to join the group of fast growing writers of the Christian faith now is the time. This website can help you with resources, advice, tips and other information that can help you get on your way. We also have links to other writing topics that might be of interest to you.

Do you need a little practice and positive feedback as a Christian writer? The FaithWriters website has a weekly topic in their 'The Writing Challenge' section that posts a new subject weekly that visitors to the website can submit, read and comment on. Each week eight EDITOR'S CHOICE winners will be featured in their quarterly FaithWriters book. You can submit in three levels:

  • Beginner writers: For those who are new to sharing their writing publicly.
  • Intermediate writers: They aren't just starting out but they know they aren't advanced either. If you aren't sure where you fall this category is the one to submit through.
  • Advanced writers: This level is for those who have been writing for quite a while and have little need for their work to be edited. They may have even been published.

This site also offers free writing courses, poetry, and article posting, freelance writing opportunities and instant exposure. You can also search or browse over 26,502 Christian articles.

Most likely you have heard of the Left Behind series of books and their great popularity. These books have taken the Christian Fiction Book market to great heights. Megan Potter of the Writing Corner recently interviewed Jerry B. Jenkins, co-author of this Christian thriller/suspense series. She asked the following questions:

  1. Why did you choose to become a writer? I was injured playing sports in high school and began sports writing for the school paper to stay close to the sports scene. I realized almost immediately I had found my niche.
  2. How long did it take you to get established? Depends on our definition of 'established.' While writing my first 90 books, I was a magazine editor, publisher, book publisher, executive etc. so I was established in publishing. Three of my seven or so books were biographies of sports stars and really opened the doors for me in that area.
  3. When speaking to new writers in the Christian field what do you advise them as the most important things they could do to advance their chances of success? I don't see success as the goal. Obedience is the goal. Being the best you can be at whatever God has called you to do is the goal, whether that means you succeed in others' eyes or not. Good writers are good readers. Writers write. Dreamers talk about it. The only way to write a book is with seat in chair.
