Catholic Authors

Catholic authors have created a niche for themselves that is growing in popularity in both fiction and non-fiction. American Gate Magazine has a wonderfully comprehensive list of best-selling Catholic books, Catholic publishers, the Catholic Book Publishers Association Bestsellers list, Jesuit authors and the Catholic Press Association book award winners. • Best-selling Catholic books by Kathleen Norris

And many, many more.

You will also find your favorite Catholic author in the fiction category such as:

And again, many more. These lists also include links to any available copies for purchase through the American Magazine Bookstore powered by Amazon.com. You can also find information on how to join a Catholic Book Club where you can discuss some of your favorite authors.

Another good source for finding authors is The National Black Catholic Congress where you will find authors that are not only Catholic but African-American as well. According to their website the year 2000 saw the ranks of Catholics of African descent reaching past 200 million throughout the world. This resource, catholicmom.com, not only has a great list of authors and their books to choose from but also gives reviews of select Catholic books, both adult and children.

Because of the popularity of the recent Lord of the Rings movies, the author J.R.R Tolkien has been brought to the forefront of literature all over the world. He believed deeply in Catholicism. His oldest son Jonathan Francis, who was named after his former guardian Father Francis Xavier, shared his faith and entered the seminary and studied in Rome, returning later as a priest.
