One of the best parts about a really good book is finding out more about the author who wrote it. Sometimes after reading author interviews you want to find their books and give them a spin. If you want to read more about your favorite author or find out who you should be reading now, you can find information on this website to help you in your search. Many times the back flap of the book will give a short bit about the author but an interview gets you more information than can fit there.
Where can you find interviews of authors? Many literary magazines, writer's magazines and even general market magazines have interviews of your favorite authors. You can even watch TV shows, such as Oprah, or listen to radio shows, to find out more about an author. Another really good place is where you are reading this now, the Internet. You can find sites that cater to each individual author, interview many authors or are companion sites to the radio or TV shows spoken of previously. You can find interviews and even book reviews. You can even review the books you like yourself. Amazon.com has a book review area for each book they sell, but be aware that recently through a computer error, it was found that many of these reviews were being done by the author and the author's family members.
Book clubs will interview authors and print that within the pages of their advertising literature selling their available books. You can go to seminars, conferences and book signings and get your own up close and personal interview yourself! When searching on the Internet just type in the name of the author you are searching for followed by the word interview and doubtless many sites will come up with opportunities to read more about your favorite author.
For example, if you type in J. K. Rowling interview many sites pop up that have detailed interviews. You can also find sites that are opinion pages about the author you are searching for. You might even jot down some questions that you don't see answered in the usual interview questions of 'where do you get your ideas' and 'what advice do you have for other aspiring authors' and try and see if you can get the answers through your own interview. Mail or email them off and see if you can get an answer. You might not but it couldn't hurt, could it?
